Are leaders in your organisation open to changing their approach to change? Whether change is at the level of the enterprise or coaching the team or individual, discover the power of systemic thinking – and the difference it makes to your leaders. Our tailored approach is based on our ICF-accredited Systemic Thinking and Systemic Coaching programmes.
Why Systemic Thinking?
- Interconnected Solutions: understand how challenges are linked and make impactful changes that ripple through the entire system.
- Holistic Approach: focus on relationships and connections rather than isolated problems.
- New insights: taking multiple perspectives and combining diverse ideas provides fresh thinking
Typical challenges this approach is designed to address:
Our approach is designed to address any transformational change that involves multiple stakeholders and requires collaborative efforts as well as increasing leaders’ ability to develop and coach others. We offer bespoke workshops that support the following:
- Development programmes that include ‘Leader as Coach’
- Many internal change programmes
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Organisation restructuring and re-design
- Culture change
- Navigating on-going, unpredictable change – often in response to outside forces
Typical Learner Outcomes from our workshops:
- Develop the systemic thinking for change, based on our ‘3 Ps’ model:
- Systemic Perspectives: Expand their awareness of networks and hidden dynamics, and engage more effectively with stakeholders.
- Systemic Presence: Develop their ability to adapt and respond creatively, enhancing their capacity for influencing others and handling complexity.
- Systemic Practice: Utilize methods like system mapping and systemic scenarios to manage uncertainty and foster innovation.
- Navigate complexity with confidence and have more impact across the system
- Work with the interconnections and relationships across and beyond the organisation – and bring others with them on the change journey
- Use the SPIRAL © model and our FAB© scenario to identify the range of actions they can take from their place in the system
- Coach and develop others to embed the change
Real-world example: Global Bank – an ESG Challenge
We tailored our ‘Systemic Thinking for Change’ programme for a global bank wanting to deepen leaders’ commitment and action towards their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.
We used an immersive experience (the FAB © scenario) to bring the different parts of a system to life, to practice the ‘3 Ps’ and make the connection to change leadership.
The leaders then applied their insights from the ‘3 Ps’ to the real bank scenario and how they might leverage diverse perspectives and make small interventions in the system to drive ESG initiatives. The workshop also focused on building future-oriented strategies, helping leaders envision and achieve measurable future success.
‘Systemic Thinking for Coaching and Change’ Workshops
We have developed a transformative leadership development programme based on our ICF accredited programmes in Systemic Thinking and Systemic Coaching, designed to be delivered in shorter modules.
‘Systemic Thinking for Coaching and Change’ Foundation Workshop: Key Elements:
- Systemic Awareness and Change: Leaders recognize their position within systems, understand interconnections, and identify small changes that can create significant ripple effects; addresses relationships and connections rather than isolated issues.
- Self-Awareness and Professional Growth: Through reflective practices, participants will deepen their self-awareness, fostering a mindset that embraces complexity and uncertainty.
- Systemic Presence and Practice: leaders develop a systemic mindset, which involves expanding awareness of contexts and networks, and engaging stakeholders with new perspectives. Leaders will practice showing up differently, enhancing their capacity to manage and lead effectively in diverse situations.
- Systemic Coaching Skills: practising the CLARITY model of systemic coaching and ‘meta-awareness’ to help accelerate change.
- Adult Development and Perspective Taking: Participants will develop skills in self-relating, sense-making, and perspective-taking, enabling them to handle dilemmas creatively, manage complexity, and gain wider insights by considering diverse viewpoints.
- Reflective Learning and Observational Feedback: The program promotes being a reflective learner, encouraging curiosity, empathy, and non-judgmental observation, which are crucial for personal and professional development.
‘Systemic Thinking for Coaching and Change’ Advanced Workshop: Key Elements
- The FAB © Scenario Immersive Change Experience: brings to life the intricate web of relationships within any system, as a way to practice the ‘3 Ps’ and how they relate to change leadership. Participants step into various roles, gaining a holistic view of the challenges and opportunities from multiple stakeholders’ perspectives. They identify where there are blocks or opportunities, and plan how to implement their insights in their context. We make the link with Barry Oshry’s work on ‘Seeing Systems’
- Innovative Tools for Systemic Coaching for Change such as systemic constellations, Ikigai charts, and Systemic Coaching using 3D systemic mapping. These help leaders visualize and address systemic challenges, enabling them to identify key elements and relationships within their organizations.
- Embodied and Intuitive Practices: Leaders learn to harness emotional, intuitive, and embodied ways of knowing, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to complex situations.
- Building Self-Relating Skills: the workshop guides leaders in understanding and balancing their inner critic, promoting a healthy self-relationship that is crucial for personal and professional growth.
- Working with Complexity and Perspective-Shifting: using the ‘Stacey Grid’ or ‘Cynefin’ frameworks to explore working with Certainty/Uncertainty and Agreement/Disagreement – and different strategies for each. Using Tetralemma and perspective-shifting practices, to develop the capacity for addressing dilemmas and tensions in dynamic environments.
- Know how to intervene from their place in the system, using the SPIRAL model: participants leave with an action plan of experiments they will try in their everyday roles
Our workshops offer a comprehensive framework for developing leaders who can drive systemic change and enhance organizational effectiveness.
